Not much time to post before work so it'll be quick. -Warriors basketball fans are rabid, hungry, and just plain in love with their team. Great arena, great team. Experiencing the playoff basketball atmosphere for the first time was just amazing, even more so than the All-Star game. Being able to share that experience with someone was even better. -Little kids are much much harder to handle than I thought. They run you ragged with hide and seek, take your block towers out with little lawnmowers, dogpile you with Horsey, and then fart on you when you're carrying them. They're so damn cute and fun though. -Seagulls are crazy, pigeons still try to run into people in San Francisco. -Sushi House is always awesome. -Hills in Berkeley are too high. -Egg Custard Tarts are great as always. -Susanna's driving, interesting... -While watching Hitch, one of the songs started playing and I nearly jumped off the sofa because I hear that song every day at work on the Muzak (Don't you Worry 'bout a Thing). Honestly we need new Muzak in the stores. It was the same Muzak in Wisconsin and it's the same all the time. -I'm being offered a promotion in Northern California, which is awesome, but I don't know about the Sacramento area. It all comes down to which position, amount of raise and Reloc being offered, Real Estate in the general vincinity, social scene (Not that important since social life will be non-existant while I open the new store), and how much pressure I want to put on myself. Pressure meaning, I would be opening a new store with a totally new design/layout. Which means it's right under the eyes of the Senior VP in charge of the the West Coast (He lives an hour away and there's a golf course near the new store) and probably get 3 or 4 visits from the CEO and all the other fun high Execs. and such. Obviously a huge risk/reward situation and sort of a no brainer that I should go for it. The question is, do I want to kill myself for those 5 months (6 days/week, 15 hours/day). -Quite honestly I'm willing to drive up to an hour to stay closer to the Bay Area but that means about 17-18 hour of my day dedicated to work and the other hours to sleep... -On the flip side I can be proud of my networking (Buttkissing or showing off, probably both) at Corporate since they made me this offer. Being the annoying guy who raised his hand and answered all the questions helped, older people are surprised when you answer a question they think you don't know, impressed when you answer about twenty of them. -More to come over the next few days, they'll be giving me more information and having me talk to the higher ups, should be interesting. -A huge shout out to my friend Andy for making the Graduate Program at MIT, amazing guy as always. |
